Material research, making a house out of paper.
ABOUT THE PAPER HOUSE
"Home is Where the Violence Is" is a work I made through my research into sources related to femicide and violence against women.
Throughout this process, I discovered that domestic violence remains alarmingly prevalent. Much of this violence happens behind closed doors, in the very place where one should feel most safe. In reality, home is one of the most dangerous places a woman can be.
The maquette is made of paper as a choice to reflect the fragility of life, of people, and of the spaces we inhabit. Upon closer inspection, you’ll notice tears, fractures, and holes, marks of damage that are nearly impossible to restore. These details speak to the quiet and unseen devastation that happens in the comfort of home.
